Agartala, March 28, 2026: A youth’s death under mysterious circumstances at a de-addiction centre in Tripura’s Jampuijala has triggered widespread shock and unrest in the area.

Reportedly, Naithok Debbarma, a youth admitted to the centre about a week ago, was found dead on Friday. His family was informed that his body had been discovered hanging inside the facility.

Police from Jampuijala station rushed to the spot and recovered the body, which was later sent to Bishalgarh Sub-Divisional Hospital for post-mortem examination.

While initial observations suggest suicide, authorities have launched a detailed investigation to ascertain the exact cause of death. Police sources confirmed that statements are being recorded from the rehabilitation centre’s management and staff.

The incident has sparked tension in the locality, with residents demanding clarity on the circumstances leading to the death. Officials stated that the post-mortem report will provide crucial evidence to determine whether foul play was involved.
