The Central Forest Division of the Forest Department, Manipur, successfully organised a three-day Capacity Building Workshop on Hospitality, Wildlife Tourism, and Nature Camp Management from March 26 to 28, 2026, at Shilheipung Garden under the Raising and Accelerating MSME Performance (RAMP) Scheme.
The workshop aimed to enhance skills and knowledge in eco-tourism, hospitality management, and sustainable nature-based enterprises.
Divisional Forest Officer Vikram Nadhe attended the programme along with Assistant Conservator of Forests Shri Aquib Jamal and Range Forest Officer Shri David Singh of Sawombung Forest Range. Experts, including members from Wildlife Explorers, Brajesh Khoyumthem and Shri Premjith, also participated and shared their expertise on wildlife tourism and nature camp management.
Addressing the participants, Shri Vikram Nadhe highlighted that forests are not only ecological assets but also important sources of employment. He stressed the growing potential of eco and nature-based tourism in generating sustainable livelihood opportunities, particularly for local youth.
Over the three-day programme, various aspects of tourism potential were discussed, including eco-tourism, wildlife tourism, and adventure tourism. Participants received practical insights and hands-on training on nature camp management, visitor handling, and developing tourism-based enterprises aligned with conservation principles.
The workshop provided a platform for knowledge exchange and capacity building, encouraging participants to explore eco-friendly and sustainable livelihood opportunities under the RAMP Scheme.
The Central Forest Division reaffirmed its commitment to promoting conservation-linked livelihoods and strengthening local capacities through such initiatives, while also expressing appreciation to the experts for their valuable contributions.
