Guwahati, March 30: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday accused the Congress of “allowing” land grabbing by infiltrators, stressing that infiltration into Assam is not merely an election issue but one tied to safeguarding the state’s identity and national security.

Addressing BJP booth-level workers virtually under the ‘Mera Booth, Sabse Mazboot Samvaad’ initiative ahead of the April 9 assembly polls, Modi said Assam had endured instability for decades but witnessed peace in the past ten years under the BJP’s “double-engine government.”

“Infiltration is not just an election issue. It is an issue to safeguard the identity of Assam and national security. Congress allowed illegal land grabbing by infiltrators. Wherever infiltrators settle, they capture small businesses and the livelihoods of local people,” Modi said.

He urged BJP workers to highlight illegal land grabbing cases and the struggles faced by locals, contrasting Congress’s “paper agreements” with the BJP’s implementation of 12 peace accords across the Northeast. Modi alleged that Congress betrayed the Bodo cause, while the BJP worked to establish peace and secure the future of youth.

The Prime Minister also praised the transformation of Bodoland, once plagued by curfews and violence, into a region of peace and stability. He asked party workers to caution voters against AI-generated videos circulating in Assam and to share success stories of women’s empowerment schemes like Orunodoi and Lakhpati Didi.

Modi emphasized the importance of engaging with tea garden workers, noting that land rights granted under the NDA government have secured the future of thousands of families. He alleged that in West Bengal, central schemes for tea garden workers were being blocked by the state government.
