Gangtok, Mar 31: Sikkim Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang on Monday chaired a high-level meeting at Samman Bhawan to review the stock and distribution of essential commodities, with a focus on ensuring uninterrupted LPG supply across the state.

During the meeting, the Food & Civil Supplies Secretary presented current LPG stocks, supply-demand trends, and the importance of sustainable usage. District Collectors reported no significant shortages, easing immediate supply concerns.

Representatives from Hindustan Petroleum outlined plans to expand Piped Natural Gas (PNG) and Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) infrastructure, while IOCL’s Rangpo LPG plant detailed measures to maintain supply chain reliability.

Tamang directed strict monitoring to prevent hoarding, black marketing, and overpricing, assigning district administrations and police teams to oversee operations around the clock. A 24×7 state helpline and strengthened control rooms will facilitate real-time reporting and ensure equitable distribution.

Transport and Food & Civil Supplies departments will coordinate logistics, including backup plans for urban and rural areas. Public awareness campaigns through media, radio, and social platforms aim to reduce panic buying and misinformation, supported by district helplines.

The Chief Minister emphasized maintaining resilient supply chains, transparency, and support for vulnerable populations, assuring citizens that LPG stocks are sufficient and the government remains committed to seamless supply.
