Assam Rifles, Cachar Police Seize Narcotics Worth ₹7 Crore in Cachar, Two Drug Peddlers Held

Agartala, March 31, 2026: Assam Rifles, in a joint operation with Cachar Police, seized narcotics worth approximately ₹7 crore and apprehended two suspected drug peddlers in Bhaskhandi on Tuesday.

Acting on specific intelligence inputs, the joint team intercepted a Bolero vehicle in the area under Cachar District and recovered a large quantity of narcotic substances concealed inside the vehicle.

Officials said the seized contraband is estimated to be worth around ₹7 crore in the illegal market. Besides the narcotics, one vehicle and two mobile phones allegedly used in the trafficking activity were also confiscated during the operation.

The two apprehended persons, along with the recovered items, were handed over to Cachar Police for further legal action and investigation.

Security officials said the operation assumes significance ahead of the forthcoming assembly elections in Assam, as enforcement agencies continue intensified efforts to curb illegal activities and maintain law and order.

Assam Rifles stated that it remains committed to its sustained drive against narcotics trafficking and to ensuring security and stability in the region.
