Sikkim’s Gyalshing Omchung Gram Panchayat Wins National Award For Rural Development

Gangtok, March 31: Gyalshing Omchung Gram Panchayat in Gyalshing District, Sikkim, has been awarded the Deen Dayal Upadhyay Panchayat Satat Vikas Puraskar (DDUPSVP) 2025 under the category “Poverty-Free & Enhanced Livelihoods Panchayat.”

The Ministry of Panchayati Raj, Government of India, confirmed that the Panchayat secured the 3rd rank at the national level for the year 2025.

 

The award recognizes the Panchayat’s initiatives in promoting sustainable rural development, strengthening livelihoods, and supporting poverty alleviation through effective local governance.

Officials said the achievement reflects coordinated efforts by Panchayat representatives, local stakeholders, and the Rural Management & Development Department, Government of Sikkim, in implementing development programs at the village level.
