Agartala, April 01, 2026: Ahead of the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) elections, Chief Minister Manik Saha on Wednesday launched a strong criticism of Tipra Motha, alleging that the party has failed to deliver meaningful development for the tribal population and expressing confidence that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will take control of the council.

Addressing campaign-related engagements, Saha remarked that the phase of “muscle power politics and emotional manipulation” in the council areas is nearing its end, with voters increasingly leaning towards development-oriented governance.

The Chief Minister claimed that despite being in power in the TTAADC, Tipra Motha has not been able to ensure visible progress, leading to growing dissatisfaction among the Janajati community. He asserted that public sentiment is shifting in favour of the BJP, expressing confidence that the party will form the next council government.

Highlighting the party’s campaign focus, Saha said efforts are being made to raise awareness among voters about various welfare schemes, adding that many residents in TTAADC areas are still not fully informed about government initiatives meant for their benefit. He also noted that the BJP is witnessing a positive response on the ground, with several Tipra Motha leaders joining the party and more likely to follow.

Taking aim at previous administrations, including the Communist Party of India (Marxist) (CPI-M), Saha alleged that both CPI(M) and Tipra Motha had failed to bring substantial development during their tenure in the council. In contrast, he credited Narendra Modi for prioritising tribal welfare, stating that the state government is committed to further advancing these efforts.

The Chief Minister also levelled allegations of corruption within the council, stating that the BJP would bring such issues to light. He maintained that politics based on coercion and misinformation is losing ground, while the BJP’s expanding support base is driven by its development agenda.

Referring to recent incidents of violence, including an attack on a minister’s vehicle, Saha termed such acts as a reflection of frustration and assured that law enforcement agencies would take necessary action. He reiterated that the people of the region are seeking peace and stability, which, he said, can be ensured under a BJP-led administration.
