Agartala, April 02, 2026: With the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council election scheduled for April 12, Anurag on Thursday reviewed the law and order situation in poll-bound districts and expressed confidence that the election would be conducted peacefully across the state.
Addressing the media personnel after a security review meeting, the DGP said special emphasis has been placed on maintaining peace in Khowai district and Dhalai district, where district Superintendents of Police and TSR Commandants were present during the discussion.
He said the review focused on ensuring peaceful conditions before the election, during polling, and in the post-poll period. According to him, adequate force and officers have already been deployed in both districts, and the functioning of the security machinery is being closely monitored through regular reviews.
The DGP stated that further action would be taken wherever necessary to ensure that the TTAADC election remains peaceful and that all candidates and political parties can carry out their campaign activities without obstruction during the pre-poll period. He added that leaders from different political parties visiting the region for campaigning would also receive a secure environment for election promotion.
On the issue of deployment of Central Armed Police Forces, the DGP said that although central forces could not be secured, the state police has sufficient manpower to manage the election peacefully. He asserted that there is no shortage of personnel or officers for election duty.
He further informed that preventive measures are already being intensified in the pre-poll period, including action against anti-social elements. Police personnel in both districts, he said, are performing their duties effectively, and the administration remains fully confident of ensuring a peaceful electoral process across the tribal council areas.
