Agartala, April 03, 2026: In a notable stride towards rural entrepreneurship, the Moon Mushroom PG of Kalyanpur RD Block under Khowai district has successfully produced pink oyster mushrooms this year, marking a significant achievement for the self-help group (SHG).
The success comes after nearly two years of continuous experimentation with different and unique mushroom varieties by the women members of the group. Their persistence, dedication, and willingness to adopt innovative cultivation techniques have played a key role in achieving the breakthrough.
Officials said that the group received consistent technical guidance and institutional support from the Block Mission Management Unit (BMMU) Kalyanpur and District Mission Management Unit (DMMU) Khowai under the Tripura Rural Livelihood Mission (TRLM). This support helped the members enhance their skills and improve scientific cultivation practices.

Despite facing initial challenges, including adapting to new methods and maintaining optimal growing conditions, the SHG members remained committed to learning and improving their production processes.
Encouraged by the successful yield, the group is now planning to scale up the cultivation of pink oyster mushrooms on a larger scale. The initiative is expected to generate sustainable income for the members while also serving as a model for other SHGs in the region.
The achievement underscores the growing impact of SHG-led initiatives and the role of TRLM in fostering self-reliance, skill development, and livelihood opportunities among rural women in Tripura.
