Agartala, April 04, 2026: TIPRA Motha Party’s Chief Pradyot Bikram Manikya Debbarma on Saturday urged voters to keep the future of the next generation in mind while casting their votes in the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council elections, asserting that “community power” would prevail in the state’s tribal politics.

Addressing an election rally in the Dasda-Kanchanpur constituency, the founder of Tipra Motha Party said his party was contesting the polls independently and had not entered into any alliance with Bharatiya Janata Party.

“You must decide whether to support the BJP or Tipra Motha. If our nominee is elected, we will work to secure additional funds for the development of this area, where many people are still facing financial difficulties,” Debbarma said.

He described the election as a direct political contest between himself and Manik Saha, and asked voters to decide whom they trust more to protect tribal rights and ensure development.

Debbarma alleged that the state government had failed to adequately address issues concerning the tribal population, including infrastructure, drinking water supply and education.

“This is about the next generation. Think about your children before casting your vote. When indigenous people are united, they will have the power to govern,” he said.

He also said that basic amenities, particularly drinking water infrastructure, would be prioritised in the region if his party retained power in the council.

Expressing confidence over his party’s prospects, Debbarma said the outcome of the polls would determine whether “community power” or political power prevails in Tripura.
