Guwahati, April 4: Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu exuded absolute confidence on Saturday that the BJP-led NDA is on track to return to power for a third consecutive term in Assam. Campaigning across the Lakhimpur district, Khandu cited the “incredible energy” and massive public turnouts at election rallies in Nawboicha, Ranganadi, and Lakhimpur as definitive proof of growing support for the alliance’s development agenda in the Northeast.

Addressing a large gathering at the Sonapur Higher Secondary School playground in support of AGP candidate Basanta Das, Khandu framed the upcoming April 9 election as a choice between past instability and a future of “double-engine” growth. He asserted that the bond between Assam and Arunachal Pradesh has moved beyond decades of friction into a new era of peace and partnership. The Chief Minister noted that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma, long-pending boundary issues have finally given way to cooperation, ensuring dignity and welfare for the hardworking people of both states.

Throughout his three-constituency tour, Khandu emphasized that the “story of the Northeast” has changed forever. He argued that the region is shedding its historical tags of neglect, insurgency, and underdevelopment to emerge as a global center of technology. Specifically, he highlighted Assam’s trajectory toward becoming India’s next semiconductor hub, urging voters to support BJP candidates like Manab Deka and Rishi Raj Hazarika to ensure the continuation of proactive leadership and infrastructure expansion.

Khandu concluded by stating that the enthusiastic participation of the people indicates a decisive shift in the political mood of the region. He maintained that with the BJP in power at the Center and in both neighboring states, the focus remains firmly on safety, prosperity, and accelerating economic growth. For Khandu, the overwhelming response in Lakhimpur serves as a powerful testament to a “changing tide” that favors the NDA’s vision for a peaceful and prosperous Northeast.
