Manipur Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh was called on by Thomas Hmar, President of the Hmar Supreme House, Barak Valley, Assam, on Monday, in a meeting focused on promoting peace and stability in Manipur.
The interaction was described as meaningful and forward-looking, with both leaders expressing a shared commitment to fostering mutual understanding and long-term harmony among communities in the state.
Khemchand Singh acknowledged the significant role played by Thomas Hmar in peace-building initiatives, particularly his efforts in facilitating an agreement between the Hmar Peoples’ Convention (D) and the Government of Assam. He lauded Hmar’s leadership in translating dialogue into tangible outcomes.
Expressing optimism, the Chief Minister said that Thomas Hmar’s continued guidance and proactive engagement could greatly contribute to strengthening communal harmony and ensuring lasting peace in Manipur.
Reaffirming the government’s stance, Khemchand Singh emphasized the importance of dialogue, cooperation, and inclusive development as key pillars for building a peaceful and prosperous state.
