Agartala, April 06, 2026: The 47th Foundation Day of the Bharatiya Janata Party was observed with due solemnity on Sunday through a series of programmes organized at the North Tripura district office as well as the state party headquarters, where senior leaders highlighted the party’s journey, ideological foundations, and commitment to public service.
On the occasion, Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha hoisted the party flag and paid tribute to the party’s founder and former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee. He also offered homage to Shyama Prasad Mukherjee, regarded as the architect of the Bharatiya Jana Sangh, and Deendayal Upadhyaya, remembered for his philosophy of Integral Humanism and Antyodaya.
Addressing party workers and leaders, the Chief Minister underlined the BJP’s role in nation-building and public service, while recalling the dedication and sacrifices of party workers over the years. On behalf of the party, he extended greetings to all functionaries and called for strengthening the organization further in the coming days.

Programmes marking the foundation day were also held at the state BJP office in Agartala, including flag hoisting, floral tributes, and organizational discussion meetings.
Among those present were State BJP President and MP Rajib Bhattacharjee, Janajati Morcha National President Samir Oraon, BJP National General Secretary Lata Usendi, and Deepak Majumder, Mayor of Agartala.
Speaking on the occasion, Rajib Bhattacharjee said the BJP was founded on April 6, 1980, under the leadership of a six-member founding team led by Atal Bihari Vajpayee. He added that guided by the principle of “Nation First,” the party continues to work toward strengthening the organization, accelerating development, and deepening public trust.
