Arunachal Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein inaugurated the modernized Sessa Mini Hydel Station (3×500 kW) at Sessa in West Kameng District on Wednesday. The ceremony was attended by Hamber MLA Tenzing Nyima Glow.

The plant, originally commissioned in 1992, had remained non-operational for several years due to aging infrastructure. The revival includes modern electromechanical systems, upgraded civil works, and enhanced 33 kV grid connectivity, providing reliable electricity to over 1,500 households across Sessa, Tippi, Bhalukpong, and surrounding villages.

Upgrades include improved transmission systems, better voltage stability, and reduced power losses, facilitating easier operation and maintenance. The station is expected to generate 6.1 million units of electricity annually, supporting energy supply and sustainable development in the region.

Deputy Chief Minister Mein said the project reflects efforts to strengthen hydropower infrastructure and provide energy access in remote border areas, contributing to Arunachal Pradesh’s energy security.
