Guwahati, April 9: A police complaint was lodged by the Karbi Anglong district administration on Thursday after a video purportedly showing the voting process inside a polling station in the Diphu constituency surfaced on social media.

Officials confirmed that mobiles are banned inside polling stations, with arrangements made by the Election Commission for voters to deposit phones, bags, and other items before entering. The circulation of the video has raised concerns about violations of election laws.

An FIR has been registered under various provisions of the Representation of the People Act, 1951. Authorities have initiated an inquiry to ascertain the facts and identify those responsible. “Appropriate legal action will be taken against any violations of election laws,” an official said.
