A one-day training programme on “Branding and Packaging of Food Products of Manipur” under the RAMP Project (MN5.3 Brand Manipur) was held on Friday at the Conference Hall of Peace Hotel, Tamenglong Headquarters.
The programme featured resource persons Abung Thomas, General Manager of the District Industries Centre, Tamenglong, and Dr. Nilay Kanti Pramanik, Deputy Director of the Indian Institute of Packaging (IIP), Kolkata.
Sub-Divisional Officer (SDO) Tamenglong, D. Meidinbui, MCS, attended the event as the chief guest, while TP Pantithan, President of the Traders’ Association Tamenglong, graced the occasion as the guest of honour.
Addressing the participants, TP Pantithan urged stakeholders to prioritise local produce and support local traders, highlighting that such efforts are crucial for boosting the region’s economic growth. Chief guest Meidinbui underscored the importance of proper packaging in enhancing product appeal and ensuring food safety standards.
The programme was organised by the Indian Institute of Packaging, Kolkata. Officials stated that the training series has been conducted across various districts of Manipur, with Tamenglong hosting the final session. The initiative aims to strengthen the branding and packaging capabilities of local entrepreneurs to promote both food and non-food products from the state.
