First Phase Of Census 2027 Begins In Mizoram; Governor Vijay Kumar Singh Flags Off Census Operations In Aizawl

Aizawl, April 16: Mizoram Governor Vijay Kumar Singh on Thursday inaugurated the house listing and housing census operations at Lok Bhavan, marking the state’s participation in India’s first digital census. With this launch, Mizoram joined the rest of the country in commencing the initial phase of the general census exercise, which will continue until May 15.

Addressing officials, Governor Singh urged field functionaries to carry out their duties with sincerity and ensure that no household is left unrecorded. He emphasized the importance of clear communication with the public so that every individual and household is accurately documented. Singh also appealed to citizens to extend full cooperation to census officials and enumerators.

During the event, enumerator H. Lalremruati processed the governor’s official entry using the Self Enumeration ID (SE-ID) generated from his self-enumeration conducted on April 7.

Senior officials from the Directorate of Census Operations attended the launch, including municipal commissioner and principal census officer Joseph H. Lalramsanga, and additional GAD secretary and state nodal officer Irene Zohlimpuii Chongthu.
