Arunachal Pradesh’s para shuttler Biri Takar delivered a stellar performance at the prestigious BWF Czechia Para Badminton International 2026 (Grade 2), clinching two gold medals and one bronze in Prague, Czech Republic.
Takar captured his first gold in the men’s singles SL4 category, defeating Germany’s World No. 16 Nils Boening with a scoreline of 21-13, 20-22, 21-10, showcasing remarkable composure and fighting spirit. He went on to secure another gold in the men’s doubles SL3-SU5 category, while also adding a bronze medal in the mixed doubles SL3-SU5 category.
His golden run was set in motion during the men’s singles quarterfinals, where he overcame six-time European Games medallist Rickard Nilsson in a gripping three-set battle (17-21, 21-15, 21-17).
The Paralympic Association of Arunachal (PAA) hailed his achievement as historic, calling it a testament to his relentless hard work and the growing strength of para sports in India. “This phenomenal achievement highlights the immense potential of sportspersons from Arunachal Pradesh and continues to inspire a new generation of athletes,” the association said.
