Itanagar, May 1: Arunachal Pradesh Governor K T Parnaik on Friday conferred the ‘Land of the Rising Sun’ medallion for excellence to Manami Moyir Gamlin, recognizing her dedication to Indian classical dance.
The award was presented at Lok Bhavan, Itanagar, where the Governor praised the Vivekananda Kendra Vidyalaya, Nirjuli, student for her exceptional talent and graceful expression. He said her performances reflect deep respect for India’s cultural heritage, marked by discipline, artistic expression, and cultural depth.
Manami has showcased her skill in Bharatanatyam, Kathak, and Odissi, along with folk forms like Lavani. The Governor noted that her journey highlights the potential of Arunachal’s youth and proves how dedication and training can achieve excellence while preserving traditions.
He expressed hope that her success would inspire more youth in the state to take pride in Indian classical arts. He also stressed nurturing such talent to keep the cultural legacy vibrant.
Daughter of Moyir Riba, assistant professor at Rajiv Gandhi University, and Daman Gamlin, Manami is pursuing her Visarad in Kathak at Nrityangan Dance and Music Academy, Itanagar. She also performs folk dances of Arunachal Pradesh and has represented the state at prestigious events, including the G20 Summit, C20 Summit, and the centenary celebrations of His Holiness at Dharamshala.
