The Union Minister of State for Coal and Mines, Satish Chandra Dubey, visited Saitual District on Monday and convened a meeting with officials from multiple government departments.
During the discussions, the Minister underscored the importance of advancing farmer welfare and called for the establishment of infrastructure such as cold storage facilities to safeguard agricultural produce. He also Emphasized the need to address related requirements to strengthen the agricultural sector.
Expressing concern over substance abuse among youth, Dubey urged proactive measures, including awareness campaigns, to counter the issue. He assured that the needs of the Mizoram Directorate of Geology and Mining would be carefully considered, with all possible support extended to the department.
The meeting was chaired by Saitual Deputy Commissioner Srinivas Sadi, while Lalthankima, Assistant Controller of Mines, presented an overview of the mining sector’s current status and challenges. Officials from the Geology and Mining Department and representatives from various district departments participated in the session.
Following the meeting, the Minister visited Saitual District Hospital, where he was received by Dr. Zothanpari Chhakchhuak, Deputy CMO, Dr. Lalhmunmawii, DMS, Dr. V. Lalremruata, Senior MO, and other members of the hospital staff.
