Manipur: Arms, Explosives Recovered In Churachandpur And Senapati Districts

Security forces on Thursday recovered a cache of arms, explosives and other military-related items from separate operations carried out in Churachandpur and Senapati districts of Manipur.

In Churachandpur district, the recovery was made from the Hengkapkot area under Churachandpur Police Station. The seized items included three single-barrel rifles, one .303 rifle, one Pompi, four rocket shells, one cylindrical IED containing about 500 grams of explosive, one conical IED weighing around 4 kg, four bulletproof jackets, two helmets, seven fired cases of AK-47 ammunition, four fired cases of 7.62 mm ammunition and one radio set charger.

In another operation conducted in the Maremai-Hengbung hill ranges under Senapati Police Station in Senapati district, security forces recovered two .22 rifles with magazines, one .303 rifle with magazine, one MP5 with magazine, one AK-47 with magazine, four locally made bolt-action rifles, one locally made shotgun, three .32 pistols with magazines, two .22 pistols with magazines, 79 live rounds of ammunition of different calibres and 13 empty cases of different calibres.

The recoveries were made during ongoing search and area domination operations conducted by security forces in vulnerable and hill areas of the state.
