The Department of Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution, Government of Manipur, has clarified that there is no shortage of LPG and other petroleum products in the State amid reports and misinformation circulating on social media and other platforms.

In a statement, the Department said the State Level Coordinator of Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL), Imphal, has confirmed that adequate stock of LPG, petrol and diesel is available across Manipur and supply is being maintained smoothly without any disruption. IOCL also reaffirmed that sufficient stock of LPG and petroleum products is available and distribution is continuing normally.

The Department urged consumers not to panic or engage in unnecessary hoarding of LPG and petroleum products, stating that such actions could lead to accidents and safety hazards.

It also warned that strict legal action would be taken against any individual or entity involved in black marketing, hoarding or other malpractices related to the sale and distribution of petroleum products. The Department further stated that the purchase of petrol or diesel in containers or jerrycans is strictly prohibited and oil pumps or retail outlets violating the directive will face legal proceedings under relevant laws, including the Prevention of Black Marketing and Maintenance of Supplies of Essential Commodities Act, 1980, and the Petroleum Act, 1934.
