Assam Rifles, DRI Seize ₹8 Crore Worth Yaba Tablets in Tripura

Agartala, May 16, 2026: In a major crackdown on narcotics trafficking, the Assam Rifles, in a joint operation with the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence, seized a massive consignment of Yaba tablets from Mungiakami in Tripura on Friday.

Acting on specific intelligence inputs, the security personnel intercepted a Mahindra pick-up vehicle bearing registration number TR05G1855 during the operation. Upon thorough search, the team recovered nearly one lakh Yaba tablets with an estimated market value of around ₹8 crore in the international market.

One person, identified as Kauchar Hussain (28), a resident of Jatan Bari under Gomati district, was apprehended in connection with the seizure.

Officials said the recovered narcotics along with the detained individual were handed over to the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence for further investigation and initiation of legal proceedings.

Security agencies stated that the successful operation reflects the continued efforts of the Assam Rifles and the DRI in curbing drug trafficking and preventing the spread of narcotics in the region.
