Kohima Dispatches First Consignment of RDF Waste to Meghalaya

Kohima, May 18: The Kohima Municipal Council (KMC) has commissioned the first consignment of Refuse Derived Fuel (RDF) waste material from its Dumpsite Legacy Waste Remediation Project, marking a significant step in sustainable waste management and environmental restoration.

A total of 11 tons of RDF waste was dispatched to UMSO Mootang, Thangskai, Khelerihat, East Jaintia Hills, Meghalaya, under the free-of-cost material category for scientific processing and utilisation. The consignment was formally flagged off by KMC Deputy Chairperson Thenusou Sekhose, in the presence of High School Ward Councilor, officials from Swachh Bharat Mission, Urban Development Department, KMC representatives, and staff.

KMC has appealed to citizens to cooperate in preserving the reclaimed site by strictly refraining from unauthorized dumping of waste.
