Agartala, May 21, 26: In a major anti-narcotics operation, personnel of the Assam Rifles recovered morphine valued at approximately Rs 18 lakh from the Railway Station area in Agartala under West Tripura district.
The seizure was made during a joint operation carried out on May 20 in coordination with representatives of the Customs Department. Acting on specific inputs, the team conducted a search operation in the area and recovered around 180 grams of morphine.
During the operation, one person identified as Arun Kumar Chakma was apprehended in connection with the case.
Officials stated that the recovered contraband along with the accused individual has been handed over to the Customs Department for further investigation and initiation of legal proceedings under the relevant provisions of law.
The successful operation once again underlined the continued efforts of the Assam Rifles and other enforcement agencies in curbing narcotics trafficking and maintaining security across the region.
