Agartala, May 25, 2026: Union Home Minister Amit Shah is set to undertake a series of visits to India’s border regions over the coming weeks, with a focus on strengthening border security infrastructure and reviewing the prevailing security situation in sensitive frontier areas, including Tripura.
According to official sources, Shah will begin the tour with a visit to Bikaner in Rajasthan on the night of May 25. On May 26, he is scheduled to visit the BSF’s Sanchu Border Outpost, where he will interact with border guarding personnel and inaugurate several welfare initiatives for security forces stationed in remote areas.
Later in the day, the Home Minister will chair a high-level review meeting on border security in Bikaner. The meeting will be attended by senior officials of the Ministry of Home Affairs, Rajasthan Government, Border Security Force (BSF), and administrative and police officials from five border districts.
As part of the extended border outreach programme, Shah will also visit Bhuj in Gujarat on May 29. During the visit, he is expected to inspect BSF deployments and tour the strategically important Harami Nala region along the international border.
Significantly for Tripura, the Union Home Minister is scheduled to visit the state’s border areas on June 5. The proposed visit is expected to focus on strengthening border management along the India-Bangladesh frontier, enhancing coordination among security agencies, and reviewing developmental as well as security-related measures in the border belts of the state.
Tripura, which shares an 856-km-long international border with Bangladesh, remains strategically important in the northeastern region. Shah’s visit is likely to include interactions with BSF personnel and meetings with state administration and security officials regarding border surveillance, infiltration prevention, and infrastructure development.
Following the Tripura visit, the Home Minister is expected to tour border areas in West Bengal around June 15 as part of the Centre’s continued emphasis on national security and border area development.
