Shillong, May 26: Work on the Rs 51‑crore skywalk at Mawkdok Dympep Valley has reached 20 percent completion, with the project expected to welcome visitors by late 2027. Sohra MLA Gavin Miguel Mylliem announced on Monday that construction began last year to enhance the tourism experience in the valley.
The skywalk is designed to feature a 40‑metre‑long walkway, including a seven‑metre‑wide cantilever section extending over the valley to offer panoramic views of the surrounding landscape. Spread across 0.54 acres, the project will include a pedestrian deck area of 2,195 square metres, creating a striking vantage point for visitors.
Located along the Shillong‑Sohra highway, the Mawkdok Dympep Valley is renowned for its lush greenery and dramatic gorge. Officials believe the skywalk will add a new dimension to the region’s tourism appeal, drawing more visitors to experience its breathtaking scenery.
