The Arunachal Pradesh government has made the Pineapple Expo in Bagra, West Siang district, an annual state event to promote horticulture, expand market linkages, and open up agro tourism and rural livelihood avenues. The decision came at a recent state Cabinet meeting.
All Bagra Welfare Society (ABWS) chairman Dumar Bagra praised the move and thanked Chief Minister Pema Khandu and the Cabinet. He said the status would greatly help local pineapple farmers, self help groups, and rural entrepreneurs while bringing exporters, food technologists, and tourists to the area. The society also credited MLA Topin Ete for supporting the proposal.
Begun in 2024 as an agro based initiative, the festival puts the spotlight on Bagra’s pineapples, noted for their taste and nutrition. The annual tag is set to improve branding, attract investment, and create new markets for growers.
