Aizawl, May 26: Chief Minister Lalduhoma inaugurated a workshop for Disciplinary Authorities organised by the Vigilance Department at the ATI Auditorium on Tuesday, highlighting the government’s commitment to strengthening accountability and efficiency in public service.

In his remarks, Lalduhoma said the administration aims to foster sincerity, punctuality and dedication among officials. He explained that Service Review Committees have been proposed in every department to identify non-performing staff, with special pension schemes under consideration where necessary. These measures, he noted, are intended to ensure more effective governance and improved service delivery.

The Chief Minister described the workshop as the first of its kind in Mizoram, expressing confidence that it would empower disciplinary authorities to take lawful action against negligent officials and enhance the quality of government services. He urged participants to fully grasp their responsibilities and apply the training productively.

He stressed that Enquiry Officers must base their findings strictly on facts, free from bias or prejudice, and follow fair and objective standards. Lalduhoma added that the government would exercise greater care in appointing Inquiry Officers and has enhanced their honorarium, along with that of Presenting Officers, to match Central Government rates.

Referring to the Vigilance Department’s quarterly report for March 2026, the Chief Minister commended departments such as Agriculture & Farmers Welfare, Animal Husbandry & Veterinary, Art & Culture, Environment & Forests, Law & Judicial, and Tourism for recording zero vigilance cases, while urging other departments to work towards the same. He also expressed gratitude to the Vigilance Department for organising the workshop.

The inaugural session was chaired by Vigilance Secretary Dr. YLN Reddy, IAS, who delivered the welcome address, while Acting Chief Secretary and Chief Vigilance Officer Sudhir Kumar, IAS, presented the keynote. Training sessions followed, focusing on the roles, responsibilities and procedures of disciplinary authorities.
