Agartala, May 28, 2026: A disturbing case has emerged in the Amtali Police Station jurisdiction, where a young man has been accused of sending threatening messages to a minor girl, including an image of a pistol, and issuing threats of murder and rape.

According to reports, the accused, Joydev Debnath, a resident near Gokulnagar Dindayal Choumuhani, allegedly sent a photo of a sophisticated pistol via mobile phone late at night to a 16-year-old girl from a tenant family in the Sekerkote area. Alongside the image, he reportedly threatened to shoot the girl and rape her.

The girl’s family initially lodged a verbal complaint at the Amtali Police Station. However, on Thursday morning, Debnath allegedly repeated the threats in the same manner, leaving the minor and her family terrified.

Compelled by the escalating situation, the girl’s father filed a formal written complaint on Thursday afternoon, citing threats of murder and rape. Police officials have assured the family that a thorough investigation will be conducted and appropriate legal action will be taken against the accused.

Later that day, the victim’s father approached the media, appealing to the police administration to ensure strict legal measures are enforced against Joydev Debnath.
