The two day, 28th-29th, Arunachal Pradesh Jaiv Vividhata & Mvm Liid Soonam/Beej Utsav 2026 and Stakeholder Consultation on Biohappiness and Climate Resilience was inaugurated in Yazali, Keyi Panyor district, on 28th of May, by Gabriel D Wangsu, Minister of Agriculture.
The event, jointly organised by the Office of the 16th Yachuli MLA, KVK Keyi Panyor, ArSRLM, and the M. S. Swaminathan Research Foundation (MSSRF), Chennai.
The programme focused on agrobiodiversity conservation, strengthening indigenous seed systems, building climate resilience, promoting sustainable livelihoods, and preserving traditional ecological knowledge.
MLA Toko Tatung, MSSRF Chairperson Dr. Soumya Swaminathan, and Padma Bhushan Rajeev Sethi attended the inaugural session. Scientists, researchers, and farmers from across the state also participated.
The Arunachal Seed Festival and Agrobiodiversity & Sustainable Livelihood exhibition was also inaugurated. Community seed conservers, especially from the Nyishi and Apatani communities, showcased indigenous crop varieties, traditional farming practices, and biodiversity based livelihood models. Displays included local paddy landraces, millets, pulses, tubers, and other heirloom seeds conserved by farming communities.
The consultation aims to link traditional wisdom with scientific research to develop climate resilient farming models while safeguarding the state’s rich agrobiodiversity.
