Sikkim Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang on Saturday attended the first Foundation Day of the Chief Minister’s Model School at Assam Lingzey.
During the event, the Chief Minister extended congratulations to Col. Ujjwal Khatiwada, Director of the school, along with students, teachers, parents, and staff members.
The Chief Minister’s Model School was established with the objective of serving as a centre for academic excellence, innovation, character development, and holistic learning.
Speaking at the event, the Chief Minister stated that the state’s long-term vision is to develop a world-class education system by 2047, aligned with broader national development goals. He added that the aim goes beyond examination results and focuses on ensuring academic support and opportunities for all students, without leaving any child behind.
He also emphasized the importance of collective participation from students, teachers, parents, administrators, and the wider community in strengthening the education system. According to him, the institution is intended to function as a model for quality education, modern teaching practices, digital learning, scientific temperament, environmental awareness, and value-based education.
The Chief Minister further noted that the school aims to provide equal educational opportunities, particularly for students from economically weaker backgrounds, and encouraged students to make full use of the opportunities provided through discipline, hard work, and determination.
