Agartala, June 02, 2026: Tripura Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha on Tuesday announced that Union Home Minister Amit Shah is scheduled to visit the state on June 5 to review border-related initiatives and participate in the bhoomi pujan ceremony of a proposed five-star hotel project at Puspabanta Palace, the former Raj Bhavan in Agartala.
Speaking to reporters, the Chief Minister said Shah’s visit is expected to include inspections of border areas as part of the Centre’s efforts to strengthen security infrastructure. Discussions are also likely to focus on the implementation of the smart border fencing system in Tripura, Assam and West Bengal. While visits to West Tripura and Sepahijala districts are being considered, the final itinerary is yet to be confirmed.
Saha also informed that he will travel to Meghalaya to attend the 23rd Plenary Session scheduled for June 4. The previous plenary session was hosted by Tripura.
As the convener on investment-related matters, the Chief Minister said he would emphasize the need to attract greater investment to the Northeast and discuss measures to improve the region’s investment climate. He also plans to highlight infrastructure development initiatives and present updates on the Tripura Space Application Centre (TSAC) along with other key issues concerning the state’s development.
The proposed five-star hotel project at Puspabanta Palace is being developed following the signing of an MoU with the Tata Group.
