Agartala, June 03, 2026: Tripura’s Higher Education Minister Kishor Barman on Tuesday held a detailed discussion with Dr. Bulti Das, Assistant Professor in the Department of Sanskrit at the National Sanskrit University, who paid a courtesy visit to his secretariat in Agartala.
Dr. Das had recently shared a series of thoughtful and constructive observations on social media concerning the current status, challenges, and future prospects of Sanskrit language education at the college and university levels in Tripura. Taking note of her insights, the Minister invited her for an in-depth interaction.
During the meeting, both sides exchanged views on various aspects of strengthening and expanding Sanskrit education in the state. Several of the proposals presented by Dr. Das were considered significant and pragmatic.
Speaking to Northeast Today, Dr. Das said that she had urged the Minister to introduce Sanskrit as a subject across all government schools, with a structured extension into colleges and universities. She emphasized that students pursuing Sanskrit would have promising career prospects. Highlighting its contemporary relevance, she noted that Sanskrit has emerging linkages with fields such as digital marketing and can be effectively integrated with computer science at higher levels of study. She further pointed out that several IT companies in India are increasingly seeking professionals with knowledge of Sanskrit.

On the issue of recruitment, Dr. Das stressed the need for greater transparency in the selection process. She suggested that examinations should be conducted in Sanskrit, with both questions and answers framed in the language. Additionally, she observed that the state government has the opportunity to leverage numerous centrally sponsored schemes and projects aimed at promoting Sanskrit.
Speaking on the occasion, Minister Kishor Barman said, “After taking note of Dr. Bulti Das’s valuable observations and proposals regarding Sanskrit education in Tripura, I invited her for a detailed discussion. We deliberated on multiple aspects of expanding and strengthening Sanskrit language education in our state. Some of her suggestions are highly significant, and I have directed the concerned officials to examine them seriously and take necessary steps.”
He further expressed appreciation for constructive civic engagement, stating, “I extend my sincere gratitude to Dr. Das for her constructive thinking. For the development of the state, the excellence of our education system, and the advancement of language and culture, the constructive suggestions and positive participation of citizens are always welcome.”
Emphasizing the importance of meaningful discourse, the Minister added, “Criticism becomes meaningful only when it is aimed at development and grounded in substance. Constructive thinking alone has the power to propel both society and the nation forward.”
