Agartala, June 04, 2026: In a significant step towards women’s empowerment and rural livelihood generation, thirty young women from different rural areas of Tripura have successfully completed a three-month residential training programme as Industrial Sewing Machine Operators under the skill development initiatives of DDU-GKY 2.0, implemented by Ishwar Chandra Vidya Sagar National Youth Council.
After successfully clearing their external assessment conducted by the Apparel, Made-Ups & Home Furnishing Sector Skill Council (AMHSSC), the trainees have secured employment opportunities in the textile industry. On Wednesday, the candidates departed from Agartala Railway Station for Tirupur in Tamil Nadu, where they will join COLOR DREAMS, a unit of Sri Saravana Mills Pvt. Ltd., as Industrial Sewing Machine Operators.
The selected candidates will receive a starting Cost to Company (CTC) of ₹18,083 per month. In addition to their salary, the company will provide free food and accommodation within its campus, ensuring a supportive environment for the newly recruited employees.
The all-girls batch is being viewed as a remarkable example of how skill development programmes can transform the lives of rural youth, particularly women, by creating sustainable livelihood opportunities and promoting economic independence. Their successful transition from training to direct placement highlights the effectiveness of employment-linked skill development initiatives being implemented in the state.
Officials of the Tripura Rural Livelihood Mission (TRLM) were present at Agartala Railway Station to bid farewell to the candidates and extend their best wishes as they embarked on their professional journey.
The achievement is expected to inspire many other rural young women to participate in skill development programmes and explore employment opportunities beyond the state, paving the way for greater financial independence and self-reliance.
