Mizoram: ZPM Candidate Laltluangkima Files Nomination For Rajya Sabha Poll

The ruling Zoram People’s Movement (ZPM) has officially entered the upcoming Rajya Sabha election in Mizoram with its candidate, K. Laltluangkima, filing his nomination papers on Friday before Returning Officer Zothansanga Ralte, Commissioner and Secretary of the Mizoram Legislative Assembly. The election, scheduled for June 18, 2026, will determine the state’s representative in the Upper House of Parliament.

According to the notification issued by the Election Commission of India, nominations will remain open until June 8, with scrutiny set for June 9 and the withdrawal deadline on June 11. Voting will take place on June 18 between 9:00 AM and 4:00 PM, followed by counting at 5:00 PM the same day.

Mizoram’s election coincides with Rajya Sabha polls in ten other states, including Andhra Pradesh, Arunachal Pradesh, Gujarat, Jharkhand, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Manipur, Meghalaya, and Rajasthan, marking a significant day in the parliamentary calendar as multiple seats across the country are contested.
