Aizawl, June 5: Eight women were taken into custody in Mizoram’s Champhai district after police seized 352 grams of heroin in separate operations this week. Authorities confirmed that most of the recoveries occurred during routine vehicle checks at the Khankawn check gate on Wednesday, a location often used as a transit route toward Aizawl.

The largest haul was reported from Bethlehem Vengchhak in Aizawl, where a 19-year-old woman was apprehended with 180 grams of heroin.

Police stated that the arrests highlight the ongoing challenge of drug trafficking in the region, with Champhai continuing to serve as a critical entry point for contraband.
