Agartala, June 09, 2026: The Regional Council (RC-18) of the Indian Association of Physics Teachers (IAPT), in collaboration with the Department of Physics of ICFAI University Tripura, successfully organized its Annual Convention at the university campus on June 7, bringing together educators, researchers and students to discuss the future of physics education in the 21st century.

More than 100 participants attended the convention, which emphasized the need to modernize and strengthen physics education in line with emerging scientific and technological developments.

The programme was inaugurated by the Vice-Chancellor of ICFAI University Tripura, Prof. (Dr.) Biplab Halder. Distinguished guests present included RC-18 Secretary Swapan Majumdar, Founder President Dr. Pramod Ranjan Bhattacharya, Prof. (Dr.) Anirban Guha of Tripura University, ICFAI Registrar Prof. (Dr.) A. Ranganath, Dean of Faculty of Science and Technology Prof. (Dr.) Priyanshu Rana Barathakur, and Assistant Professor Dr. Dipayan Chattopadhyay, along with other faculty members.

The convention also witnessed virtual participation from IAPT President Prof. P. K. Ahluwalia, General Secretary Prof. Rekha Ghorpade and Prof. Ranjita Deka.

During the technical sessions, Prof. Ahluwalia delivered an insightful lecture on the expansion and advancement of physics education in the modern era. Dr. Pramod Ranjan Bhattacharya presented a session on Bragg’s X-ray Diffraction Law, while several academic discussions and presentations were conducted by Dr. Anirban Guha, Dr. Dipayan Chattopadhyay and other experts.

The valedictory session was attended by the Director of the National Institute of Technology Agartala, Prof. (Dr.) Sarat Kumar Patra, as the chief guest. The convention concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Dr. Camellia Das, Head of the Department of Physics, marking the successful completion of the annual academic gathering.
