Sikkim Legislative Assembly Speaker Mingma Norbu Sherpa attended the inaugural session of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA) India Region Zone II Conference, hosted by the Haryana Legislative Assembly in Chandigarh on June 8 and 9.
The conference was inaugurated by Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla. Rajya Sabha Deputy Chairman Harivansh, Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini, and presiding officers and legislators from 15 state legislatures were also present at the event.
Prior to the inaugural session, delegates attended a luncheon hosted by Haryana Governor Prof. Ashim Kumar Ghosh at Lok Bhawan in Chandigarh.
According to the organisers, the conference is focusing on key issues including the role of legislatures in nation-building, the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047, and the use of artificial intelligence in governance and legislative processes.
A documentary showcasing the history and culture of Haryana was also screened during the event. The conference’s plenary sessions are being held on June 9.
