Conrad Sangma attended the Meghalaya Sports Conclave on Tuesday in Shillong, where he interacted with sportspersons from the state and several nationally recognised sports personalities.
The Conclave was organised as Meghalaya prepares to host the National Games 2027. The Chief Minister said the event marks an important phase for the state’s sports development efforts.
He said the state’s approach is focused not only on infrastructure development such as stadiums and facilities, but also on building a wider sports ecosystem. This includes early talent identification, training support, opportunities for athletes, and pathways for careers in sports.
Conrad Sangma also referred to the experiences shared by sports personalities at the event, noting that their journeys reflect discipline, resilience, and achievement that can serve as examples for younger athletes.
He added that the state’s youth have significant potential and stated that continued support and guidance are intended to help athletes perform at national and international levels.
