The Arunachal Pradesh Government, under the visionary guidance of Chief Minister – Pema Khandu has been striving to enhance road connectivity along the region, leading towards holistic economic growth incorporated with multiple socio-cultural benefits.
According to an official bulletin issued by the CM, the state government has constructed the 1,600-kms-long ‘Trans Arunachal Pradesh Highway’ and 1,800-kms-long Frontier Highway to connect the remotest upper reaches along border.
The East-West Corridor is in the pipeline; while, the state administration in collaboration with the Border Roads Organization (BRO) and National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation (NHIDCL) have been building around 2,000-kms-lane stretch per year.
As per the annual report of Ministry of Road Transport & Highways (MoRTH), Arunachal Pradesh has recorded 27.3% increase in road density within the last 6 years.
“First phase of Itanagar to Banderdewa NH completed. Road Density has gone upto 32.78 km per 100 sq km from 25.74 km. 7 highway projects with a total length of 385.38 kms completed,” – the bulletin further reads.
Taking to Twitter, the Arunachal CM wrote “Roads lead to not only economic growth but also to multiple socio-cultural benefits. A good network of roads is a vital tool in our fight against poverty. Our government is firm in its resolve to ensure that #ArunachalPradesh has the region’s best road connectivity.”
