Agartala, July 31, 2023: Desperation and frustration have engulfed the streets of Agartala as hundreds of unemployed individuals find themselves in a perpetual state of uncertainty due to the government’s three-year delay in recruitment through the Joint Recruitment Board Tripura (JRBT). Despite the passage of time, no recruitments have been made, leaving educated youths in a state of limbo and crossing the age limit for job eligibility.

On Sunday, these disgruntled job seekers took to the City Center to stage a protest, voicing their grievances and demanding immediate action from the authorities. Their plight has been ongoing for three long years, but it seems the government remains unconcerned about their situation.

The oral examination for Group-C positions took place on June 06, but astonishingly, no merit list has been published yet. Moreover, the oral examination for Group D is still pending, further adding to the frustration of the job seekers.

During the sacred Legislative Assembly’s budget session on July 13th, the Chief Minister made a promise to release the merit list promptly. However, as of today, July 30, the promise remains unfulfilled, and the job seekers are growing increasingly impatient.

The demonstrators are urging the government to publish the merit list within the next two days, emphasizing their disappointment over the delay. They also highlight the irony of celebrating the nationwide Amrit Mahotsav while the youth of the state suffer from unemployment, feeling that their lives are being wasted as victims of joblessness.

Directly holding the Chief Minister responsible for their predicament, the protesters demand that if any unemployed person faces an unnatural death, the Chief Minister should be held accountable.

As the protest continues for an extended period today, the authorities are urged to take immediate action to address the grievances of these unemployed youths and offer them a glimmer of hope amidst the prevailing darkness of joblessness.
