Gangtok, Aug 6: In a significant effort to address critical social issues, Hub Empowerment for Women in Gangtok District organized an informative awareness session on August 5. The event focused on three key themes: ‘Nasha Mukht Bharat,’ Skill Development for Women, and the ‘Beti Bachao Beti Padhao’ initiative.
The program featured prominent speakers, including Tushar Nikhare, District Collector of Gangtok, and Gulsan Lama, Advocate at the High Court. They emphasized the importance of women’s education, collective responsibility in combating drug abuse, and breaking stereotypes against individuals recovering from addiction.
The event also highlighted the significance of skill development for women, with initiatives like training programs and economic empowerment schemes. Additionally, the “Nasha Mukht Bharat” initiative was discussed, aiming to combat drug abuse, particularly among youth.
The awareness program saw a vibrant turnout of women from across the Gangtok District, with a productive and impactful session concluding with a heartfelt vote of thanks from Manikala Gurung, SWO from the Women & Child Development Department.
