In a tragic incident early morning of Tuesday a mother of three and her boyfriend allegedly committed suicide by jumping in front of a train. The incident took place at around 7 a.m. near over bridge, along the Tripura’s 82-mile Nalkata railway line in the Longtharai Valley subdivision under Dhalai district, leaving the local community in shock and disbelief.

Manu Police Station officers rushed to the scene after receiving a tip from concerned locals. The bodies of Phulekti Debbarma, 28, and Yatuk Debbarma, 26, were found on the railway tracks. The police immediately recovered the bodies and sent them to Manu Community Health Center for post-mortem examinations.

“Both the bodies were found early in the morning by locals who then informed us,” said a police official from Manu station. “We are conducting an investigation, and the bodies have been sent for autopsy.”

Phulekti Debbarma, a resident of Khowai district, was married to Ran Debbarma of Nalkata Baktsing Para. The couple had three children together. However, according to local sources, Phulekti had been involved in an extramarital relationship with Yatuk Debbarma, a resident of the same neighborhood. The two reportedly eloped last Sunday but returned home the previous night, leading to a heated argument between Phulekti and her husband.

“They argued last night and left the house,” shared a neighbor who requested anonymity. “After that, they couldn’t be found, and this morning, we found the tragic scene on the railway tracks.”

The incident has caused intense excitement and grief in the community, with locals expressing their disbelief at the tragic turn of events. The police investigation into the circumstances leading to the couple’s death is ongoing.
