Gyalshing, Jan 4: Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang-Golay arrived in Gangyap, Yuksam-Tashiding constituency on Saturday to attend the ongoing Nam-Aal-Namsoong festival as the Chief Guest. The festival, an important cultural event for the Lepcha community, is taking place at the Gangyap public ground.
Upon arrival, the Chief Minister was given a traditional welcome, including a Guard of Honour presented by the Gyalshing district police. He was accompanied by cabinet ministers, MLAs, chairpersons, Deputy Commissioner of Gyalshing, and other officials.
During the visit, CM Tamang-Golay explored the various traditional stalls, which featured Lepcha indigenous food, traditional costumes, and cultural artifacts, showcasing the community’s rich heritage.
Nam-Aal-Namsoong, a significant harvest festival of the Lepcha tribe, is celebrated to honor the bountiful harvest. The day’s events included cultural performances and various festivities at the main stage.
Earlier, the Chief Minister was warmly welcomed at the Rangit bridge entry point to Yuksam-Tashiding by the Gyalshing district administration and the local community.
