Ukhrul SP clarified that certain media reports alleging involvement in aiding Kuki militants, based on a press release by NSCN-IM, were false and baseless.
The Ukhrul District Police stated that they provided police guides and security escorts to the BSF team on December 12 and 19, 2024, following requests from the BSF, Kangpokpi District Police, and directives from Police Headquarters. These actions were to assist in the movement of personnel and materials for constructing security barracks in Molham Kuki village for BSF deployment.
The SP condemned the dissemination of unverified claims, highlighting that such reports tarnish the image of the Ukhrul Police and impede ongoing peace efforts. An appeal was made to media outlets to ensure proper fact-checking before publishing, especially during these sensitive times of reconciliation and restoration of normalcy in the state.
On January 11, 2025, the Government of the People’s Republic of Nagalim (GPRN) has alleged that Ukhrul SP Kartik was involved in aiding Kuki militants. In a December 18, 2024, incident, the SP reportedly loaded two Shaktiman trucks and two mini-trucks with rice and tin sheets, concealing additional items beneath them. When the vehicles reached Mothang Kuki village, around 200 Kuki militants, instead of security personnel, were allegedly present to receive the supplies, the statement said.
