Guwahati, Jan 15: Assam is set to host a cutting-edge aircraft dismantling facility, with Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announcing the plans during a felicitation event for meritorious students in Pandu on Monday. The facility, which will focus on dismantling decommissioned Boeing aircraft from around the world, is currently in the proposal stage.
Sarma revealed that the company behind the project has promised to set up the facility in Assam, provided the state can allocate the required land. “Once we provide the necessary land, the company will establish a factory to dismantle and process these aircraft,” he explained.
Though still in early discussions, the Chief Minister highlighted the potential of the project to enhance Assam’s industrial profile. “This is a significant step forward, showing that Assam is entering a new era of development,” Sarma stated.
The Chief Minister also encouraged students to prepare for the opportunities in emerging fields such as semiconductors, machine learning, and quantum physics. “The future job market will be centered around these technologies, and it is vital for the youth of Assam to equip themselves accordingly,” he added.
