Kohima, January 20: In a significant development, 15 leaders from the National People’s Party (NPP) joined the Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) today at Congress Bhavan, Kohima.
The new members were welcomed by NPCC President and Lok Sabha MP Supongmeren Jamir and NPCC Working President Khriedi Theunuo. The leaders who switched parties cited their discontent with the NPP’s functioning, lack of electoral prospects, and differences in ideas and ideologies.
According to Lok Sabha MP Supongmeren Jamir, the joining of the young leaders is an encouragement for the Congress party. This development is seen as a major boost to the NPCC’s efforts to strengthen its presence in Nagaland.
