Sikkim: 16th Finance Commission Members Visit Namchi District

Namchi, Jan 22: The members of the 16th Finance Commission of India visited Namchi on Wednesday as part of their five-day official tour. The delegation, consisting of Annie George Mathew, Member, and Promila Rajvanshi, PPS to Ajay Narayan Jha, was accompanied by liaison officers from the Finance Department of the Government of Sikkim, Binod Sharma and Rituja Gajmer.

The distinguished visitors were warmly welcomed by Renuka Baraily, Panchayat President of Assangthang GPU, Anupa Tamling, District Collector of Namchi, Nim Pintsho Bhutia, SDM (HQ), Saran Kalikotey, SDM Namchi, and Upendra Rai, BDO Namchi.

The visit began with prayers at Siddheshwar Dham, followed by a tour of the premises. A meeting was held at the conference hall of the Dham, where the District Collector provided an overview of various administrative initiatives and schemes for the district’s development.

Upendra Rai, BDO Namchi, also shared updates on the progress of Namchi Block, focusing on projects funded by the Finance Commission and efforts aimed at promoting local economic growth.

Earlier in the day, the delegation visited Samdruptse to offer their prayers and seek blessings.
