Agartala, February 05, 2025: Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Wednesday declared that Tripura has completely rid itself of armed insurgency, as all militant groups have surrendered and joined the mainstream since the BJP came to power in 2018. He credited the state’s transformation to the BJP-led government’s commitment to good governance, transparency, and the vision of a “Viksit Bharat.”
Speaking virtually from Delhi at an appointment letter distribution event for 2,806 newly recruited government employees in Agartala city on Wednesday afternoon, Shah asserted, “Under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, three historic peace accords were signed, ensuring lasting stability in Tripura. Armed groups that once disrupted the region have now laid down their weapons, and the long-standing crisis of Bru migrants has been resolved with proper rehabilitation, providing them with housing, healthcare, education, and livelihood opportunities.”
Shah lauded the Northeast’s transformation, emphasizing that the region—once known for insurgency, infiltration, blockades, and drug trafficking—has now become a hub of “development, connectivity, investment, and modern infrastructure.” He highlighted that Tripura, previously considered a landlocked state, has now become “land-linked,” with a modern airport, improved road networks, and enhanced water conservation projects accelerating its development.
Taking a swipe at the previous CPIM-led government, Shah accused it of fostering a corrupt recruitment system. “For decades, securing a government job in Tripura meant having the right political connections. Today, under Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha’s leadership, recruitment is entirely merit-based and transparent,” he said.
Of the 2,806 new recruits, 2,437 have been appointed as Multi-Tasking Staff, while 370 will strengthen the Health Department as pharmacists and lab technicians. Shah commended the roles of TRBT, JRBT, and TPSC in streamlining the recruitment process.
Congratulating the appointees, he welcomed them to the “Viksit Tripura” campaign, urging them to contribute to the state’s progress. The event at Swami Vivekananda Maidan, Agartala, witnessed the presence of Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha, council of ministers and other senior officials.
